SoS: Share with us your business idea and why you chose this specific business to be an entrepreneur.

Varun/Ashutosh: Jewellery18 is an online marketplace for artificial and handmade or fashion jewellery. It’s a platform for the suppliers and manufacturers where they can directly sell their products to end customers. We are providing an easy way to sell to the small level suppliers (who don’t have legal docs like VAT or Service tax registration and can’t go to big portals) just register with us and we will manage taxes and other things and we will pay them their demand price of the product. Our logistic services will pick the product from vendor end and deliver to the customers. We are trying to encourage handmade jewellery and women who are manufacturing such products to come online to sell their products. For this, we have tied up with few NGOs who are dealing in jewellery making employment programs.

SoS: What have been the key milestones of your jewellery business?

Varun/Ashutosh: Maximum rarely available variety of jewellery on our platform and to provide handmade jewellery at a global level.

SoS: Also please share some hiccups that you have witnessed as an entrepreneur.

Varun/Ashutosh: Of course as a startup you have to face lot of challenges to make people understand the business idea and the most common concern is the financial limitation. A start-up has to prove itself in a very limited budget.

SoS: What are the plans for your business in the coming future?

Varun/Ashutosh: Just to promote and get maximum suppliers and max variety, so that customers can get new and rarely available variety of jewellery.

SoS: State three things about your business that differentiates you from the rest.

Varun/Ashutosh: 1. Our supportive plans for suppliers 2. Variety of rarely available jewellery 3. Supporting women empowerment involving NGOs.

SoS: What have been the key ingredients that made your entrepreneurial dream a success?

Varun/Ashutosh: Our experienced and talented team, our strategies and planning, founder’s dedication.

SoS: If you could restart your journey as an entrepreneur, would you do it differently?

Varun/Ashutosh: If I restart my journey as an entrepreneur, a base plan will be the same as earlier, but will bring a change in planning and strategy, with every experience we learn more things in detail. No one is perfect in this world.

SoS: What is your dream for your venture?

Varun/Ashutosh: I don’t believe in dreams, I just like to execute the things with full dedication. So I will like to expand our venture up to sky heights, let’s see how things will take shape.

SoS: Who has been your greatest inspiration and the source of your strength?

Varun/Ashutosh: I dedicate all my success to my parents and brother, my strength is my team and I also appreciate those people who are waiting for my failure, which makes it more challenging to face the hurdles.

SoS: A funny or memorable anecdote or situation that you would like to share.

Varun/Ashutosh: There are a number of funny incidents in our start-up journey, but most memorable one was “meetings with investors” as it was fun to answer their questions full of stupidity.
