A technology enthusiast and an entrepreneur, Mayur is Founder & CEO of The Horizon Technologies, Thane. Mayur is well versed with technology and advertising design on digital platforms. Under his leadership, the company has registered impressive growth with more than 150 clients within 3 years from its inception and today is known as one of the fastest growing Digital Agency. Mayur is also a Co-founder and CEO of a tech startup 360Track Systems.
Mayur is also Co-founder and CTO of a food brand- ‘The Food Doofs’, which specializes in house parties and have own brand of Momos.
A software engineer by education, Swapnil is Co-founder and Business Head at The Horizon Technologies a Digital Agency based in Thane. Very passionate about his work, Swapnil also works as Social Media Strategist & Consultant for Start-up companies.
With the vision of empowering educational institutes, Swapnil co-founded 360Track Systems on 23rd April 2016. He works as CMO of the company. Swapnil is Co-founder and CEO of a food brand- ‘The Food Doofs’, which they acquired recently.
Introduction: 360Track helps parents and educational institutes to be on the same platform and communicate seamlessly with each other and thus efficiently contribute to child’s academic growth. 360Track solution consists of a Device, Smart Cards, SMS Service, Online Software and Mobile App. The device is installed at an entrance of institute (School, College or Coaching Classes). As student scans the Smart card to the device, an SMS is send to his / her parent immediately. The device is connected to an online software where in along with attendance record, parent can get his pupil’s Exam details, Homework, Notes, Important Notices, Fees Record and each and everything associated with his/her academics. This software can be access by Institute, Teachers, Parents and Students. To offer convenience to access pupil’s data on-the-go, 360Track has Mobile App for parents which is available for Android, iOS and Windows platforms.
SoS: Share with us your business idea and why you chose this specific business to be an entrepreneur.
Founders: In August 2014, we came across a news article from Times of India saying “One lakh children go missing in India every year and Maharashtra is one of the poor states in this”. we just got nervous! Then we checked the documents and records published by the National Crime Records Bureau and was greatly distressed to know that the children are kidnapped for trafficking, ransom and forcing them to beg. After digging deep into the issue, we found one of the scenarios for kidnapping is when the child is out from Home.
we wanted to build something that will keep parents updated about their child’s whereabouts. So we started thinking of something which will intimate parents when the child enters and leaves school, tuition, hobby class, etc. we thought of a biometric fingerprint system which seemed to be difficult to use for kids. So we finalized upon Contactless Card-based system. When we discussed this idea with some schools and tuitions, their suggestion was, it should be connected with Student Management System which will offer security as well as automation.
Then we and our team, thought of building a system which will intimate parent when the child enters and leaves the school/tuition, helps institute to manage students’ data and offers parents a convenience to access their child’s information. This is how we started building a solution- 360Track in December 2014.
SoS: What kind of products do you offer to your clients and list out the key milestones of your business?
Founders: A large number of parents are now a part of 9-6 work culture. The busy lifestyle has created a large communication gap between parents & teachers. 360Track helps Parents and educational institutes to be on the same platform and communicate seamlessly with each other and thus efficiently contribute to child’s academic growth.
August 2014: We thought of building a product for Child Safety.
December 2014: We finalized on the product, it’s functionalities and started building it with the team.
March 2015: First prototype with a machine sending SMS when we scan card and we implemented it for trial purpose in couple of schools. It worked. But it was having only LAN connectivity mode available.
November 2015: A second prototype of device with LAN & Wifi connectivity, Rechargeable Battery Facility and Offline data storage was ready and we installed it in few institutes for testing.
April 2016: Founded 360Track Systems.
July 2016: Launched Commercial product.
March 2017: Set up Channel Partner Network pan India in almost all major Indian cities.
SoS: What makes your business unique and how do you define your marketing strategies?
Founders: We are the only startup in the market who provide end-to-end Hardware, Software and Mobile app based system for student attendance and management.
We run a digital agency, The Horizon Technologies (www.horizontech.in), and are well-versed with digital marketing. We market 360Track mainly through digital means.
For sales, we have set up Channel Partner Network pan India in almost all major Indian cities. And we are now looking to expand internationally.
SoS: Is your business bootstrapped or funded?
Founders: It is bootstrapped.
We utilised funds from our digital agency, The Horizon Technologies, to build 360Track.
SoS: What financial plans have you thought of to grow or expand your business?
Founders: As we start with full-fledged operations with Channel Partners pan India, sales will come through and the money coming in will itself take care of further business expenses. We are also into discussions with some people abroad who are willing to partner with us.
SoS: What is the biggest source of inspiration that keeps you walking through the entrepreneurial journey?
Founders: An appreciation from the end user is, we think, the biggest source of inspiration for us. People loving the product motivates us and helps us walking through the entrepreneurial journey.
